Appointment of New Magistrate Judge - Yakima

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington announces the appointment of Mary K. (Kit) Dimke as Magistrate Judge for the District, effective January 14, 2016. Judge Dimke’s official duty station will be in Yakima, Washington, where she will hold and discharge the duties of her office for a term of eight (8) years. 

Kit Dimke grew up in Asotin County, Washington as the daughter of a rancher. Her education consists of an undergraduate degree in Political Science awarded by Pepperdine University in 1999, and a Juris Doctorate awarded by the Vanderbilt University School of Law in 2002. 

Early in her legal career, Ms. Dimke served as a law clerk for the Honorable Alan B. Johnson, United States District Court, District of Wyoming, and then for the Honorable Richard C. Tallman, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Seattle, Washington. She has served as a federal prosecutor for over 11 years, first as a Trial Attorney at the Department of Justice, Criminal Fraud Section, and then as an Assistant United States Attorney, in the Western District of Washington. Most recently, she has served the past three and a half years as an AUSA in the Eastern District of Washington, appearing primarily in the Yakima and Richland court locations.
