Chief Bankruptcy Judge Transition

Spokane, Washington, November 2, 2020 – The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington announces that the Honorable Whitman L. Holt  will assume the role of Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Washington, effective Monday, November 2, 2020.  Judge Holt’s term will commence immediately upon the conclusion of the term of service held by the current Chief Bankruptcy Judge, the Honorable Frederick P. Corbit.  Judge Holt maintains chambers in Yakima.

Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 154(b), in each district court having more than one bankruptcy judge the district court shall designate one judge to serve as chief judge of such bankruptcy court.

The appointment to serve as Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Washington is governed by General Order No. 94 of this Court, which limits the term of service to five years.
