District Court Remains Open During Government Shutdown

Wednesday, October 1, 2025

Despite a federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington will remain open and will perform all essential activities necessary to exercise the federal judiciary’s constitutional functions (i.e. the resolution of cases in which there is a constitutional or statutory grant of jurisdiction).  Operations and case supporting services needed to maintain and support the exercise of the judicial power of the United States and the constitutional duties of the Article III judge will continue throughout the duration of the shutdown.
