EXTENSION - Applications Sought for Appointment as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference
To maximize availability of service as a Lawyer Representative from the Eastern District of Washington, the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Washington (FBA) has extended the application deadline for two (2) Lawyer Representative positions from the Eastern District of Washington to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference to December 31, 2024.
Lawyer Representatives are appointed by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, typically for a three-year term. Past Lawyer Representatives have found this to be a very rewarding and fulfilling professional experience. Any attorney admitted to practice in the District is encouraged to apply.
During the appointment term, Lawyer Representatives attend the annual Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, held in the summer each year. Lawyer Representatives are also eligible to participate in various Ninth Circuit and District Court liaison activities and committees. In their third year, Lawyer Representatives usually serve on the Lawyer Representatives Coordinating Committee (LRCC) for the Circuit and participate in at least two additional meetings outside the District, such as the Conference Executive Committee, Chief District Judges Annual Meeting, or the Chief Bankruptcy Judges Annual Meeting.
