The Law medal was created in 1962 in commemoration of the Golden Anniversary of the founding of the School of Law.  It is bestowed upon deserving individuals who have distinguished themselves in the pursuit of justice through the practice of law, as a member of the judiciary, in public service, or in teaching law.

The 2018 Gonzaga Law Medal was awarded to Judge Rosanna Malouf Peterson on May 12, 2018, in recognition of her commitment to legal education, justice, and social equality.
