  • PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records)

PACER is available to anyone in the general public desiring to view case information online. Register online for your free PACER account by contacting the PACER Service Center. There is a $.10 per page fee for viewed dockets, docket entries and documents. However, there is no fee incurred for accessing written opinions. PACER provides access to case information on all non-sealed civil and criminal cases in US District Court in Eastern Washington. Civil case filings are available from April 1999 forward. Criminal case filings are available from November 2004 forward.

PACER also hosts the U.S. Party/Case Index which allows searching of parties and attorneys in all District and Bankruptcy courts nationwide.

  • CMECF (Electronic Case Filing System)

PACER users may use their ECF login to access written opinions, without charge. Navigate to the Reports menu, ‘Fee-Waived Opinions and Orders’.

  • CourtWEB

CourtWEB provides free access to Judges’ written opinions. No login is required. For most filings, a text search is provided to assist in locating pertinent documents. Scanned documents are not text-searchable, but are retrievable by entering partial case caption information, case number, or judge. Opinions from the Eastern District of Washington dating back to January 2005 are available on CourtWeb.

Please note: Documents maintained in the CMECF/PACER system are the official court case record. In the event of a discrepancy between a document in CourtWeb and a ECF/PACER document, ECF/PACER controls.
